I’m not saying that insanity and tennis are in any way linked, however they do both involve repeating the same actions over and over again and wanting differing results.

If you are in a tennis match and are, quite frankly, getting your butt kicked, you should seriously consider changing your strategy.

So why don’t people change their style of play to give themselves a better chance? You know that what you are doing isn’t working, so why stick to it?

I’ve got a few ideas here for you that may help you in the future. If you stay focused and are flexible with your strategies, you may well end up beating someone that you thought you would lose to.

If you’re opponent is well known for rushing the net and volleying, don’t let them get there. Beat them at their own game and get to the net first, this will confuse them.

Those players who love to rush the net are attackers, and don’t like defending. By keeping them at the baseline and making them play in a away they aren’t comfortable with also give you the mental edge.

Some tennis players aren’t very good athletes, so you need to exploit this flaw in their game. Make them run and run until they just can’t cope with it any more. Force them to quickly change direction and basically make their life miserable.

Once you’ve volleyed and make them run backwards to return it, confuse them even more by playing a drop shot. By mixing it up and keeping them running they will be so exhausted they won’t even be able to think about their own strategy.

So next time you walk onto a court be aware of your opponents weaknesses or style of play so that if they start beating you it’s easier to change your strategy and really confuse them.
